Stanley Goldfoot Information
Stanley was born in 1914. His grandfather was Simon and had gone from Russia to London but didn't stay very long. (Could this be my grandfather Nathan's brother?)
(12/2/06: I have that Simon Goldfoot married 3 July , Aug, Sept 1905 in Toxteth Park, in England & Wales marriage Records.) Then he went to Ireland. He was the Gabbi and Shamus of the little synagogue there. Then they went to South Africa. Stanley's father was a member of the Masons. Stanley left S. Africa in 1933 after finishing high school. He is the first immigrant to go to Israel from South Africa. His sister Kathleen was interested in genealogy and had made a family tree. Gerald Joel was his cousin, and he had passed away before May 17, 1983. Stanley told about Ian Goldfoot living in Houston, Texas. He said that one Goldfoot was a real hermit. Stanley has two daughters; one was 40 in 1983. He had been married to Helen in ca 1963. she has a boy and girl by a previous marriage who lives in Israel. They each have 4 grandchildren. Stanley's father was Abraham (or grandfather). He said that most South African Jews were from Lithuania, mainly Vilna area.
8/23/06: Stanley Goldfoot was born in 1914 in Johannesburg, South Africa. On December 30, 1939 he arrived from Johannesburg, South Africa and the Union of South Africa on January 20, 1949 in Boston, Massachusetts at age 25 and 7 months from Cape Town, South Africa on the ship Tawahi. His ethnic background was listed as Hebrew. With him was his wife, Rebecca age 24, who was also born in South Africa.
12/2/06: He died in Jerusalem on November 24, 2006. He has two daughters by his first marriage.
